Tuesdays in the Plaza
Our weekly concerts provide an eclectic and unique line-up of bands, and have been assembled to please a wide array of musical interests. Food vendors will be on-hand to offer locally sourced food for sale starting at 5pm, with the music beginning at 6pm.

Tuesday, June 18, 2019 Gator Nation Band has been playing Dances, Concerts, and Festivals since 1996. Under new management, Mr. Blackwell Presents, Gator Nation continues to bring their hand clapping, feet stomping music to their many fans across the nation and British Columbia. While adding their own west coast twist, Gator Nation Band brings the sounds and feelings of traditional Cajun/Zydeco/& New Orleans R&B music, as well as their own original which have become a staple in all their shows.
Sal’s Greenhouse built an impressive body of original music with a varied blend of influences like Nikka Costa, Brand New Heavies, Sharon Jones, and many more, resulting in a completely unique and original funky and soulful sound that feels good and moves its fast-growing audience. Sal’s Greenhouse is 9-piece powerhouse funk collective led by baritone saxophonist Sally Green out of Oakland.
The Sorentinos are a four-piece California rock and roll band. They have been pleasing and baffling audiences for more than 35 years with their brand of west coast rock that takes heavy doses of English pop/rock, American garage, blues and country music along with a bit of singer songwriter folk thrown in to make their own special kind of noise. The Sorentinos have released 25 CDs on The Major Label with their latest release being Sonic Narcotic and have opened shows for many well-known artists.

Afrolicious is a dance-fusion collective based in San Francisco, California. Founded by brothers Joe "Pleasuremaker" McGuire and Oz "Señor Oz" McGuire, the group's weekly residency at the Elbo Room in the Mission District has established Afrolicious as an integral player in the San Francisco live music scene. At its core Afrolicious consists of a DJ duo, but has since expanded to include a live band with as many as twelve pieces as well as a project known as Afrolicious Soundsystem.

Volker Strifler’s creative style of Blues/Roots are innovative explorations into Rock, Jazz, and Latin rhythms, with several stops in New Orleans along the way! This German-born guitarist-singer plays with a perfect blend of fire and restraint along with the clarity of Duane Allman. The pace is fast, often frenetic, but the mixture of styles has the feel of controlled turbulence, drawing you into a whirlwind of tightly meshed crosscurrents. Most of all – the music is FUN!

Midtown Social formed in 2012, this band’s mix of sass and brass is guaranteed to make you sweat just as much as it makes you think. Continuing in the tradition of badass Bay Area family bands, Midtown Social picks up the beat from Sly & the Family Stone and takes off from where Jefferson Airplane landed. Known across the region for their chic and soulful sound as well as their epic dance parties, Midtown Social moved SF Weekly to declare that “An alabaster statue would have two-stepped to that magic”.

The Duvets are a high energy party cover band based in the Bay Area. They’ve set themselves apart by specializing in mashups & medleys of modern dance songs. With the most 2010+ tunes of any Bay Area band, you can expect to hear the best of today’s dance and rock hits, including popular electronic dance music (EDM) from artists like Calvin Harris, Zedd, Avicii and more. With 5 vocalists (3 male, 2 female), they have an amazingly versatile song selection.

If your band is interested in performing at the Tuesdays in the Plaza concerts, please complete a Band Application by February 1st. Review of media kits and selection of bands will take place in February. Bands that are selected will be contacted by mid-March. Due to the high volume of applications we receive each year, we will only be contacting those that are selected.
The Community Services Department will be accepting applications from local food vendors to participate in the 2020 Tuesdays in the Plaza concerts beginning in December. To be considered for a vendor spot, a Food Vendor Application must be submitted online by March 15.
Ride your bike downtown! Bike valet services are available from 5-8 PM every Tuesday during our summer concert series. This is a complimentary service to all concert patrons. Each rider is given a check tag. One half stays with the bike and the other half is kept by the rider. The bike is carefully parked in a secure location, so you can sit back and enjoy the music. To retrieve a bike, the user hands in the check tag and the bike is returned.
