Water Conservation Numbers

A water saving poster

Wondering what Healdsburg’s conservation levels are?  For the most recent seven day period ending July 29, Healdsburg as a whole has reduce used by 48% compared to water usage in July of 2020.  This is almost half the water typically used during summer months.  The Healdsburg community continues to show how significant conservation can be achieved and maintained.  Please keep up the good work as the water we save today is the water we need this fall.

Recology Demos New All Electric Garbage Truck

An image of an all electric garbage truck

On Monday morning, Recology brought their new 100% all electric garbage truck to the Plaza for a demonstration. Last year the City concluded a renegotiation of our Solid Waste Franchise Agreement with Recology. Council Member Hagele, with support from entire Council, asked about converting the garbage truck fleet to electric. The response was always, “electric garbage trucks are not yet viable.”

Yet, he persisted. Council Member Hagele insisted that the Franchise Agreement include language committing Recology to bring electric garbage trucks to Healdsburg as soon as possible.  Recology has lived up to that commitment and now has a demonstration vehicle ready to test in action, in Healdsburg!

Tuesday’s lineup features SoloRio, a new Americana'n rock stone soup collaboration band based in the North Bay Area. The band consists of C. Cameron and Brooks Anderson, Andy Tester, Andy 'Dru' Rodgers and Gary Kaye who conspire in a dynamic heartbeat while adding voice to the four-part harmonies this band is known for. The band is known to be often joined by renowned local musicians for a spontaneous busk. Reminder: for the safety of all including our four-legged friends, pets are not allowed at the Tuesday concert series.

Arden Subdivision Homeowners

On Friday, July 16, the City welcomed two new homeowners to the Arden (Oaks at Foss Creek) community through the City’s affordable housing program in partnership with the Housing Land Trust of Sonoma County. The Housing Land Trust of Sonoma County partners with the City to provide for-sale housing opportunities in Healdsburg.

In 2018, The Healdsburg City Council approved an inclusionary housing agreement with the developers of the Oaks at Foss Creek to set-aside 15 percent of the projects housing as affordable. The agreement continues the City’s commitment to providing housing opportunities for those that work in Healdsburg.

Both new homeowners and their families are excited to be able to own a home in the City they work in and call home.

July 21, 2021 Power Outage

An electric lineman working on power lines
On July 21 a car struck a power pole near the intersection of Powell and Healdsburg Ave.  This caused power outage at approximately 9:21pm to most Healdsburg electric customer north of Powell.  For most customers power was restored by 10:32pm that same evening.  Due to the amount of damage City electric crews worked roughly 12 straight hours to replace the broken pole and restore service to all customers.

Construction continues on the Foss Creek Pathway Segments 7 and 8 Project to extend the pathway from the storm water detention basin adjacent to Carson Warner Skate park north across Dry Creek Road and continuing north to the intersection of Grove Street and Healdsburg Avenue.  Current work activities include installing aggregate base material and pathway lighting conduits in preparation for paving.   Last Friday the 80-foot prefabricated weathered steel bridge was set crossing Foss Creek.  Upcoming construction activities will include intersection and traffic signal work where the pathway cross Dry Creek road.  Construction is still ahead of schedule with the pathway opening expected this calendar year.
